Where is the best ice cream in the world ? Barcelona, Naples, Madrid, New York, Paris, Rome ?.. Well the Gelato World Cup which is held every two years named Italy the winners in 2020. 

However, you don't need to travel to Italy to indulge yourself in world class ice cream. In fact the 2018 runner up Candela Gelateria is a little cloesr to home, in fact this little piece of Gelato heaven is nestled at the foot of Orihuela mountain, less than 10 minutes drive from Orihuela City, in the sleepy Spanish village of Redovan. In fact, if you didnt have GPS you would never find it.

We were really in two minds whether to tell people about this 'heaven on earth' as we are both ice cream monsters haha... from the first lick to the last spoonful we have never tasted ice cream like it. With an amazing range of flavours (carrot cake and cheescake are our current favourites) one visit will never be enough, and if your other half isnt into ice cream there is also a well stocked bar on the premises. 

The Gelateria could easily be lifted and dropped into the centre of Madrid or Barcelona, but thankfully it isn't.. it is within 20 minutes of home. This is one of those secrets you maybe won't tell your friends !
